【Course Objectives】

1) To collaboratively develop creative solutions for complex problems in a logical way (A)
2) To explain and defend ideas based upon reason and evidence (A)
3) To understand key topics and issues in international and domestic tourism (C)
4) To investigate the opportunities and challenges that tourism offers for local and regional development (C)

【Course Contents】

This course will introduce students to the main issues in tourism and improve their academic skills. Students will learn about topics such as transport, hospitality, destination management, and tourism’s effects, before considering how such can be sustainably developed. By combining learner-led research projects with collaborative presentations, debate, creative thinking, and written responses, students will improve their academic English proficiency and hone their higher order critical thinking skills.

Students will do weekly reading and video-listening assignments related to the topics covered in class. Students will need to do outside reading and research for a mid-term group presentation and a final group project.
