【Course Objectives】

On this course you will:

【Course Contents】

Health and Wellness is an interdisciplinary subject, which aims to give students a holistic overview of what makes for good health and well-being. On this course, we will investigate the various dimensions of health and wellness in a personal and societal sense, before focusing on areas of personal interest. There will be plenty of English discussion related to the topics, along with a focus on researching and developing knowledge in the areas. You will also have a chance to improve not only your English skills, but also academic skills, such as problem-solving, debating, and critical thinking.

Understand Health and Wellness as a holistic concept.
Discuss and reflect on our own health and wellness.
2 Physical Health
Analyse what makes someone physically healthy and create a fitness plan.
Learn phrases related to physical well-being and practise learning vocabulary independently.
3 Stress at University
Understand the impact of stress on health and wellness.
Analyse the stresses of university life and discuss coping strategies.
4 Emotions
Discuss moods and emotions.
Enhance understanding of empathy and emotional intelligence.
Analyse and describe the causes and effects of emotions.
5 Relationships
Practice interpersonal communication skills
Analyse the skills needed to build and maintain healthy relationships and create solutions to common issues in relationships.
6 Intellectual Health in the Digital World
Discuss and evaluate our hobbies and pastimes and how they relate to our wellbeing.
Understand the importance of intellectual wellness.
Identify problems and solutions to some key challenges to intellectual health in the modern world.
7 Midterm Course Review
Preparation and Planning for the Midterm Essay.
8 Mental Health Issues
Discuss what makes good mental health.
