Notes

【Course Objectives】

The objective of this course is to grow and develop own leadership skills by contributing to the world from what you can. This course is open for all the students who are enthusiastic about it. Welcome to the students who would like to have the first and small step to collaborate with the diverse people in global. (No pre-requisite courses are set for taking GL301.)

As learning, you can foster own leadership skills further by having rich experience to demonstrate your leadership in real global society. After such an international experience, you will have chances to review and reflect on your uniqueness and effectiveness of own leadership and to develop a growth strategy/plan for your own future.

You do not need to put the hurdle high to join this program by yourself. This chance is for all of you, and GLP will support you to do the goal setting before the departure, and will have a follow-up session after the arrival. It will become your leadership journey as a global citizen in the world.

Also, you can build continuous learning by taking other Rikkyo-GLP courses based on your experience through this course.

【Course Contents】

Each applicant, personally, is first required to apply for one of the study-abroad programs selected by Center for Global Human Resource Development (CGHRD). After successfully admitted in the program, he/she is entitled to apply for GL301. Applications for GL301 are reviewed/evaluated by instructor. (Please see “Others” part of this syllabus for detailed information about the study-abroad programs.)

Once officially registered, all GL301 students must participate in both prep and reflective sessions.
In the preparatory session, each student sets own goals to achieve in the study-abroad program, and elaborate on the action plan.

In the reflective session, students are asked to reflect on his/her progress against the goal and plan set before study-abroad, and will build up new leadership journey for the future.

▼STUDY-ABROAD PROGRAMS

<Program Selection>
Complete list of programs will be introduced in the course guidance session. The list will include a social innovation program at foreign university, a program collaborated with a NGO, as such.

<Application Process>
Applicant first must apply for one of the programs on the list at his/her own responsibility. Unless he/she is admitted to the program, he/she will not be allowed to apply for and register GL301.

<Cost/Fees>
All the cost/fees are to be borne by the applicant in accordance with terms and conditions set by program provider.

▼SCHOLARSHIP
Multiple types of scholarship are provisioned by Rikkyo University. Please contact Student Welfare Office at his/her own responsibility.

CGHRD provides scholarship (different from the above) for GL301 students. Detailed information including eligibility and process will be available in the course guidance session, and at CGHRD as well.

▼NOTES
GL301 recommends for applicants to maintain a certain level of English proficiency, TOEIC 700. Please be noted, however, that study-abroad programs may set respective English proficiency requirements for admission.

Students without leadership education background are also welcome to take GL301, while it is recommended to take an introductory leadership course such as GL101/111 before taking GL301.
It is desirable and recommended to continue learning leadership after completing GL301.
