【Course Objectives】

Students will learn the basics of service learning by engaging in community service activities in Manila with university students from Japan, Korea, India, and the Philippines.

【Course Contents】

Pre-departure sessions will introduce service learning and the social situations of communities in Manila. In the Philippines, students will join with Korean, India and Philippine students, and after orientation sessions they will work together with partner communities with which Trinity University of Asia (TUA Quezon City, Manila) has developed a service and education relationship. Volunteer work will be with preschools, centers for street children, medical facilities, and the like. Meaningful engagement will lead to understanding of local communities and work with them and with Philippine teachers and students to develop mutually beneficial interactions.
