This course aims to enable students to make simple conversations using a sign language, such as exchanging greetings, expressing themselves in their daily life, and communicating with their teachers and classmates.
This is an introductory Japanese sign language class mainly targeting students who are learning sign language for the first time. Students will learn about sign language as a cross-cultural communication tool as well as the overview of the deaf culture. Through lectures on the overview of the culture and life of deaf people and by reading assigned books outside class hours, students will enrich their understanding of the deaf culture and community. To demonstrate their achievement of the class learning outcomes, students will have opportunities to practice their communication skills outside of the classroom.

アナウンスメントの確認やコメントシート提出等の為、スマホまたはPCを持参してください。
基本的に実技はネイティブサイナー（ろう者）が手話のみで指導する。チームティーチャー（聴者）が適宜通訳でフォローする。パワーポイントやDVDの読み取りなど視覚的教材を多用する。ペアワークやグループワーク、クラス内の発表などアクティブラーニングを取り入れる。

手話で簡単な日常会話ができるようになる。あいさつや日常生活についての自己表現や，先生やクラスメートとコミュニケーションができるレベルを目指す。

日本手話・入門編の語学講義。主に，初めて手話に出会う学生を対象に，異文化コミュニケーションの一つとして手話を学ぶと共に，ろう文化の概要を知る。また，ろう者の文化や生活についての概説を行い，さらに、授業外に課題図書を読み進めることで、ろう者の文化やデフコミュニティについて理解を深める。授業で学習したコミュニケーション能力は成果として発信し、授業外でも発揮する機会を設けていく。
