【Course Objectives】

Tourism policies are not proceeded only by tourism departments (such as Japan Tourism Agency) but also by other related departments. It is important to understand tourism policies from the following view points;
(1) Comparison between general policies and tourism policies.
(2) Comparison of Tourism policies by the national government and by local governments.
(3) Policies by tourism departments and by other related departments such as those of economics, urban planning, heritage conservation and environment.
(4)The role of government in tourism considering roles of stakeholders such as enterprises, citizens groups and tourists.
(5)The historical transitions of tourism policies to understand the characteristics and roles of the policies.
(6) Relationship with the social, economical environment and tourism polies

Through the lectures, students will understand not only about each policies but also about significances of government for tourism studies.

【Course Contents】

The lectures will consist of the three topics: ①understanding the characteristics of current tourism policies from the viewpoint of the national and local governments, ② historical understanding of tourism policies, and ③ on the basis of ① and ②, we will discuss new topics of tourism policies in the future, such as the SDGs of tourism and tourism resilience.
