Students will gain basic knowledge of urban planning and learn how urban spaces are formed and managed. The course also examines how planning systems, landscape policies, and the preservation of historic environments contribute to the development of tourist destinations.
Tourist destinations are shaped by various factors such as urban planning systems, landscape policies, and the preservation of historic environments. After introducing the basic concepts and historical background of urban planning in Japan, this course explores how urban spaces and landscapes related to tourism are formed and managed. It also discusses contemporary approaches to community-based urban development.
The course also encourages students to observe cities and tourist destinations from a critical perspective. By examining how urban spaces are planned, preserved, and managed, students will gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between urban planning, urban space, and tourism development.

都市計画に関する基本的知識を身につけ、都市空間の成り立ちやその計画手法について理解する。また、観光地を観光地として成立させる要因として、都市計画制度や景観形成、歴史的環境保全などが果たしている役割について学ぶ。授業を通して、都市や観光地を多角的に捉え、都市空間を読み解く視点を身につけることを目標とする。

観光地は自然に生まれるものではなく、都市計画制度、歴史的環境の保全、景観形成など多様な要素によって形成されている。本講義では、日本の都市計画の基本的な考え方や歴史的背景を理解した上で、観光と関係の深い都市空間の形成や景観政策について学ぶ。さらに、地域資源の活用や住民参加など、現代のまちづくりの考え方についても取り上げる。
