The word "hotel" has different meanings and connotations depending on who you talk to. Some people treat hotels as guests in general, staying and eating at the hotel, while others see hotels as places of expression and perceive the space as their own art or architecture. On the other hand, if we look at hotels as a business, there are those who recognize hotels as profitable real estate and make their living investing in them, while there are also groups of professionals who are dedicated to managing and operating hotel businesses.
In this class, we will open up the perhaps stereotyped words and concepts of "hotel" and "management" and discuss them with the many guest speakers who embody their diverse forms.
The goal of this class is to create your own ideas about "learning" and "career" within your affiliation in the Faculty of Tourism through the exchange of inputs and outputs.
We will basically plan and manage this class with companies that embody "diversity" in
the context of hotels, tourism, and local communities.
We would like to work with such companies as Suisei (https://suisei-inc.com/) led by Shoko Tatsuzaki, Loco Partners (https://loco-partners.com/), which operates relux, and Sekai Hotel Corporation (https://www.sekaihoteljp/), which operates decentralized hotels, on class projects.
This class will consist of (1) lectures and panel discussions by guest speakers, and (2) group work based on the topics in (1) above, for a total of about 6 sets of sessions.
(1) Lectures by guest speakers will be given either online or in person, and will include lectures and panel discussions based on questions asked in advance by faculty members in charge and some members of the student affairs office.
For the group work in (2), group work will be conducted based on a specific topic, following the class in (1) held prior to the class. Here, the class will proceed with brief presentations and critiques from either the faculty member in charge or a guest speaker (who may not be present at some times).
Some years there will be a student presentation in the last class and some years there will not be, which I will explain in the introduction of the first class.

「ホテル」という言葉を一つとっても、人によってその捉え方や意味合いは異なっています。ホテルに泊まったり、食事を食べたり、という一般的にはゲストとしての接し方もあれば、ホテルを表現の場として捉え自身のアートや建築としてその空間を捉える人もいる。一方で事業としてホテルを捉えると、ホテルを収益不動産として認識して投資を生業とするものもいれば、ホテル事業を経営・運営するためのプロフェッショナルの集団もいたりします。
この授業では、もしかすると固定的になっている「ホテル」や「運営」という言葉や概念を開放し、その多様な姿を体現する多くのゲストスピーカーの方々とディスカッションしていきます。
そのインプット、アウトプットのやり取りの中で、観光学部における所属の中での「学び」や「キャリア」について自分なりの考え方を作っていくことを本授業の目標とします。

基本的にはホテルや観光、地域といった文脈で「多様性」を体現する企業と一緒に本授業の企画、運営を行っていきます。
龍崎翔子さん率いる株式会社水星 (https://suisei-inc.com/） 、relux を運営する株式会社 Loco Partners(https:/ /loco-partners.com/）、分散型ホテルを展開する Sekai Hotel 株式会社(https://www.sekaihoteljp/）、といった方々など過去と同様に進めたいと考えています。
本授業は、①ゲストスピーカーによる講義、パネルディスカッション、②①のトピックをもとにしたグループワーク、を1セットとして、全部で6セットほどのセッションを行っていきます。
①ゲストスピーカーによる講義については、オンラインもしくは対面にてご登壇いただき、講義、および事前質問などをベースとした担当教員、一部学生事務局メンバーを交えたパネルディスカッションを行います。
②のグループワークについては、その前に開催された①のクラスを受けて、特定のトピックをもとにグループワークを行います。ここでは簡単な発表や担当教員もしくはゲストスピーカー（不在の回もあります）より講評をしながら進行します。
最後の授業の学生発表はある年とない年がありますので、そちらは初回授業のイントロダクションで説明しようと思います。
また有志メンバーになりますが、過去にはゲストスピーカーが手掛けるプロジェクトや地域を舞台にインターンシップやスタディツアーを開催しています。
