【Course Objectives】

This course offers a hands-on learning experience, particularly tailored to meet the distinct challenges faced by the tourism and travel industry in its post-COVID-19 recovery phase.
By thinking about how to solve these challenges and how to tackle them through practical work, participants will acquire "practical views and ideas that can respond to changes in the environment and essential skills as a member of society", which will be useful in their respective workplaces after graduation.

【Course Contents】

Although there are many important issues that need to be tackled regarding the current situation of tourism in Japan, in this course, as a continuation of the topic in the spring semester, we will focus on the most critical issue: "Inbound tourism to Japan" through group discussions.
The course consists of three steps conducted as one set: "Lecture" that introduces basic knowledge and specific examples for the topic, "Group Discussion" to discuss the lecture topics in small groups, and "Presentation and Review".
As specific topics for investigation, we plan to focus on 'Shopping', the most important activity for foreign tourists to experience Japan, and intend to create a proposal for 'Inbound Shopping Tourism in Japan'. Rather than just a case study of past examples, participants will work on an actual case in real time to create a business plan that connects tourism/travel and solutions to social issues, then present it to the companies and organizations affiliated with the Japan Shopping Tourism Organization.
Through these activities, participants will acquire not only planning and proposal skills, but also practical and essential skills as businesspersons, such as teamwork and presentation skills.
The best group in the final presentation will have the opportunity to make a presentation at the Japan Shopping Tourism Organization seminar (date to be determined).
On Sunday October 6, fieldwork (one-day trip in Tokyo) will be conducted.
Attendance at the fieldwork is strongly recommended.
