Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to

②Discuss the challenges and opportunities of the current tourism industry

This course is designed for students who are pursuing a fundamental understanding of tourism studies and seeking a global view under English contexts. The course covers the introduction of challenges and opportunities of the current tourism industry. The student will develop and practice critical thinking ability through reading and discussion on the different tourism study’s references.
1 | Introduction The first class serves as an introduction to the course, providing students with an overview of the basic concepts and frameworks of tourism studies. It aims to set the foundation for understanding the tourism system, its components, and its significance in the global context. The class will likely outline the structure of the course, explain the expectations and objectives, and introduce the key terminology used in tourism. Additionally, students may gain insight into the current challenges and opportunities within the tourism industry, setting the stage for more in-depth exploration in subsequent classes. |
2 | Careers in Tourism The class would explore different sectors such as travel agencies, hotels, resorts, event planning, airlines, and cruise lines, among others. Students would learn about the roles and responsibilities associated with different positions, the skills and qualifications required, and the potential career paths one can pursue. |
3 | Emerging Trends in the Hospitality and Tourism Industries I Students need to prepare a presentation by focusing on the latest developments that are shaping the future of the tourism and hospitality sector. |
