Upon completion of this course, students are expected to
1) better understand and explain basic concepts of tourism and its recent developments, challenges and opportunities
2) be able to utilize various sources of materials to advance understanding and studies of tourism
3) be able to discuss the challenges and opportunities in tourism industry and develop critical thinking through readings and class participation on issues relevant to tourism studies
This course is designed for students to gain a fundamental understanding of tourism studies and a global view of the industry. The course will introduce a variety of materials commonly used in tourism activities, business and academic studies to facilitate students’ understanding of recent development, opportunities and challenges in tourism industry. It aims to encourage students’ participation to develop and practice critical thinking in English on various issues related to tourism activities.
