This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the business aspects of the tourism industry. Upon successful completion, students will be able to:
1. Understand Key Concepts: Define tourism, the tourism industry, and related core terms; describe the components of the tourism system (tourists, destinations, transportation, marketing, etc.) and their interrelationships
2. Recognize Industry Structure: Identify and describe the main sectors and business forms within tourism (e.g., accommodation, transportation, attractions, travel agencies, MICE).
3. Conduct Basic Analysis: Apply data (e.g., DMO official websites, UN Tourism reports) to analyze simple tourism phenomena or cases; recognize the main factors influencing tourism demand and supply.
4. Develop Foundational Skills: Cultivate basic abilities in industry information analysis, case study reading, and group discussion; gain an initial understanding of business communication and professional ethics in tourism.
5. Explore Interests and Pathways: Spark interest in the tourism business field, establish a foundation for subsequent specialized courses, and begin considering potential career paths within the industry.
This course uses the "tourism system" as a framework to comprehensively introduce the fundamentals of tourism business. Content includes:
1. The definition, history, and trends of tourism
2. The tourist: motivations, behavior, and market segmentation
3. Tourism destinations: attractions, planning, and management
4. Core tourism sectors: accommodation, transportation, attractions, travel agencies, and Online Travel Agencies (OTAs)
5. Fundamentals of tourism marketing and distribution
6. The impact of technology on tourism (e.g., smart tourism)

4. Review & Preparation: Regularly review lecture notes and consolidate knowledge frameworks; prepare for group presentations and assessments through research and study.
