This course provides:
- theoretical framework with regard to destination management with a comprehensive approach that focuses on planning, marketing and management of a destination.
- selected examples of tourism from destinations throughout the country and the world
The aim of the course is to provide:
- an understanding of the dynamics of destination development;
- a combination of theory and practice on destination planning and management;
- approaches and issues on marketing application for destination management.
On completion of this course, the students are able to:
- characterize different types of tourism destinations as well as identify the importance and objectives of destination management;
- be aware of the process of tourism development and the possible associated impacts in tourism destinations;
- identify the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders and organizations in the processes of destination planning and marketing;
- identify and assess the main components of a destination development plan as well as the main methods of monitoring the performance of a destination;
- critically assess the principles and practice of destination marketing and their applications to the strategic management of a destination;
- study the roles and functions of destination tourism organizations;
- synthesize good practice in destination planning and
management in a variety of case-studies;
- develop tourism development proposals of selected destination from a social, cultural and environmental perspective.

This course provides:
