As many regions make good use of area-specific resources as tourism resources, it is important to understand that value for local development using economics. The world natural heritage is a typical example and the designated area, that is Shiretoko, Shiralami-Sanchi, Ogasawara, and Yakushima, contributes to the regional economy. Then, students will learn about basic theory to estimate the value of natural resources.
We will study the definition of regions, resources, and environment in detail from an economic perspective. Furthermore, students learn about how tourism and the natural environment can contribute to regional economies in terms of local development. Analytic point of view through economics will be provided in this class.

第1回目のゼミで、進め方および発表割当を決めるので必ず参加すること。
地域固有資源を観光資源と活用している地域は多く、地域発展のためには経済学を活用しその価値を正確に把握していることが重要である。例えば、世界自然遺産（知床、白神山地、小笠原諸島、屋久島）などはその代表例であり、自然資源の価値を世界的に認めつつも観光資源として大いに地域経済に貢献している。そこで、経済学を用いて観光資源の価値を把握するために、観光資源となりうる自然環境の価値を推計するための基礎理論を学ぶ。

経済学において地域とは何か、資源とは何か、環境とは何かについてその定義から詳細に学ぶ。そして、これらを理解した上で、観光と環境の関わりについて学び、地域の発展に観光が環境という視点からどのように貢献できるのかについて理解を深める。そのためにも、経済学の知識をベースに多角的な視点から観光を分析する視座を養う。
We will study the definition of regions, resources, and environment in detail from an economic perspective. Furthermore, students learn about how tourism and the natural environment can contribute to regional economies in terms of local development. Analytic point of view through economics will be provided in this class.
