This course is designed for students to learn liberal humanity (critical theory) as a theory of humanities of tourism for interpreting phenomena related to cultural exchange. This year’s course will focus on comprehensive critical theory in order to decipher the narrative of tourism. The aim of this course is for students to understand the theoretical aspects of the exchange literature-related subjects of the College of Tourism, which are the comprehensive basis for their undergraduate studies.
Critical theory is the basis for academic perspectives and intellectual thought, a vital means to understand university courses. Many instructors base their courses on critical theory. Therefore, in tourism studies, in which dynamic and practical topics and ideas are often cited without explanation, critical theory is essential to anticipate the logic of the paradigm and develop a correct understanding of discussions.

テキストを手元に置き、授業前に各回の該当部分に目を通し、わからない箇所、気になる箇所に印をつけておくこと。その後、受講した内容を踏まえ、次の講義までに授業支援システムにリアペを提出する。この科目では、文科省・大学設置基準通り、授業時間の1.5倍以上の予復習時間を求める。

文化の交流にかかわる事象を読み解く観光人文学理論として、リベラル人文学（批評理論）を学ぶ。今年度は、観光という物語を読み解くための批評理論を総合的に扱う。本講義は観光学部の交流文学系科目の中でも、大学の学び全体の基礎となる理論面の習得を目標とする。
