This course aims for students to develop perspectives for considering dynamic relationships between the global movement of people and goods, tourism, and culture through familiar examples such as souvenirs.
Modern tourism's growth cannot be examined without considering developments in tourism industries that provide various mass tourist products. Citing examples of various industries involved in souvenirs, this course considers how people, spaces, and images are managed in relation to tourism products and how the movement of people and goods through tourism impacts consumption, transfer, and production of culture.

Canvas LMSに授業資料（レジュメ、関連する学術論文など）をアップするので履修者は事前事後学習に活用のこと。学期中に6～7回、授業内または授業後数日内を締切とする最大1000文字程度のミニレポート課題を課す予定。課題については全体的な講評や解答例の提示は行うが、個別の解答に対する添削やコメントは行わない。その他詳細についてはガイダンスで説明するため、必ず出席のこと。
本科目では、観光みやげという身近な事例を通じて、観光産業が媒介するグローバルな人やモノの移動と文化をめぐる動態的な関係について考えるための視野を身につけることを目標とする。

現代ツーリズムの発展は、旅行にかかわる諸サービスを大量生産・消費可能な商品として提供する観光関連産業の発展抜きに語ることは出来ない。本科目では、観光みやげにかかわる諸産業を事例に挙げながら、観光を通じた人やモノの移動が、文化の消費、移転、生産にいかにかかわっているのかについて考察する。
