From the perspective of the anthropology of religion, students will study the relationship between tourism, consumer society and religion.
Drawing on previous research and ethnographic studies in cultural anthropology, we consider the following questions:
1. What is "Religion"? Or, what has been discussed on "religion" in Cultural Anthropology and Sociology of Religion?
2. What are the social mechanisms by which "religion" is linked to tourism?
3. Is it possible to draw a boundary between "religion" and "tourism"?

| 授業時間外を用いて資料の収集や観察記録を行ってもらいます。授業時間内ではそれらの素材を用いた分析や議論を行います。これらのコースワークを毎回ではありませんが適宜実施し、平常点の一部として換算します。 |
上記の通り、授業内容に関係する資料の収集や観察記録を行います。私たちの周囲には「宗教」的なものが多々ありますが、ふだんの日常では気付くことがあまりありません。土産物、雑誌、観光情報、健康グッズ、ナラティブ、景観、政治ニュースなどを観察し、そこに「宗教」を読み取る訓練をコースワークの一環として実施します。

文化人類学の一ジャンルである宗教人類学の観点から、ツーリズムや消費社会と宗教との関連を学びます。
From the perspective of the anthropology of religion, students will study the relationship between tourism, consumer society and religion.
人類学における先行研究や事例研究をもとに以下の問いについて考え、人類学的宗教研究の知識を身につけます。
1．「宗教」とは何か。または何であると議論されてきたか
2．「宗教」がツーリズムと結びつく社会的なメカニズムはどのようなものか
3．「宗教」と「観光」の境界を引くことは可能か
