Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
1) Acquire the skills to apply their sociological imagination in conducting academic research on a phenomenon of interest.
2) Develop the ability to build a convincing argument based on appropriate research plan, data collection and analysis.
3) Present one's own research findings in the form of a well-structured report.
In this course, students select a concrete research topic of interest and formulate academically and socially meaningful research questions. They learn the basics of research methods and ethics, and craft a logical and convincing research plan. Subsequently, they advance to data analysis based on the research plan and articulate their findings in a comprehensive report. By presenting their work in progress and receiving constructive feedback, they refine their ideas and the draft report. Throughout the course, they work to clarify the social and scholarly significance of their research and reflect on the impact of research ethics and the process on the resulting work.

社会学的想像力を使い、関心のある事象を学術的に調査する力を養う。適切な調査計画、データ取得・分析に基づき、説得力のある議論を展開する力をつける。調査結果を構成がしっかりしたレポートにまとめるスキルを習得する。

関心のある具体的な調査トピックを選び、学術的、社会的意義のある問いを立てる。調査方法と研究倫理の基礎を学び、整合性と説得力のある調査計画書を書く。計画に基づきデータ取得・分析を進め、結果をレポートにまとめる。発表とフィードバックを通して考察を深め、執筆を進める。一連の流れを通して自己の調査の社会的、学術的意義を明確にし、研究倫理と調査のプロセスが結果に及ぼした影響について振り返る。
