The aim of this course is to help students acquire the necessary skills and knowledge needed to read English-language literature. It also enhances the development of students’ skills in summarizing the contents of the research paper and making oral presentations. The goals of this course are to
(1) Obtain basic knowledge about technical terms of psychology, study design, and analysis.
(2) Understand and evaluate English research papers in terms of their methods, results, conclusions, and implications.
Students will choose the literature on the topic close to their interests and concerns from the list of English-language literature selected by their teaching staff and then read it and summarize its contents. Presentations will be made in Japanese. Also, it is expected that they give constructive opinions and ask questions to other presenters, and the presenters, in turn, would properly answer those. This course will be taught in Japanese. But all of the course materials are in English.

多くの心理学に関する論文は英語で書かれている。そのため、英語論文の読解能力は卒業論文の執筆や大学院進学を目指す人にとって必要なスキルである。
本講義では心理学の英語論文を各自で読み進めて行く必要がある。担当文献については、学年を考慮して決定する（入学直後の１年生は英語論文ではなく、英語で書かれた心理学の概論書を担当する可能性がある）。
この講義の目的は英語文献を読むための基本的スキルを習得することである。同時に、研究論文をまとめ、その内容について発表するスキルの向上を目指す。本講義の到達目標は、
（1）心理学に関する専門用語、研究デザインや分析に関する基礎的な知識を得ること、
（2）英語研究論文・文献を方法、結果、考察の観点から理解・評価すること、
である。

受講生は担当教員が用意した心理学に関する英語文献の中から、自身の興味関心に近いテーマに関するものを選択し、それらを読み解き、内容をまとめた上で日本語で発表を行う。また、他受講生の発表に対して建設的な意見・質問を行う。発表者は自身の発表に寄せられた質問に対して適切に答えるように努めてもらう。講義、およびプレゼンテーションは日本語で行うが、使用する論文・文献は全て英語で書かれているものを使用する。
