備考/ NotesNotes |
The ability to read and interpret academic papers in English is a fundamental skill for those planning to pursue graduate studies or a career in research. The Seminar on English Reading in Psychology (Level 1, Beginner Level) aims to develop this skill by focusing on the steady acquisition of techniques for reading English-language research papers. The course will cover methods to enhance reading comprehension and provide an understanding of the structure and function of different sections in research papers, such as the introduction, methods, results, and discussion.
By the conclusion of the seminar, students are expected to have improved their proficiency in reading psychological literature, be able to extract key information more effectively, and critically assess the strengths and weaknesses of the research papers they encounter. This course is designed to equip students with the necessary skills for academic reading in the field of psychology.
This introductory course is tailored for students who have limited experience in reading English-language academic papers and are seeking to enhance their skills in this area. It is also suitable for those who already possess some proficiency but wish to further practice and refine their abilities. The course involves weekly readings of academic papers or abstracts in English, approached gradually to facilitate comprehension.
Students are expected to read the assigned papers individually and then engage in group discussions to analyze and understand the content. The instructor will assist in clarifying any challenging sections or complex terminology encountered in the readings. Over the semester, students will practice with a total of 3-5 academic papers. This course structure is designed to provide a supportive environment for developing the skills necessary to confidently navigate psychological and general academic research.
Students will be required to complete reading practice tasks and submit review sheets for selected articles.
