備考/ NotesNotes |
The primary language for psychology research is English and as such, it is important to develop the skills necessary to be able to discuss and present research in English (even in Japan). In this English expression course, Level 1 (beginner level), students will learn basic presentation skills, how to use academic terminology, and how to discuss research in English. By the end of the semester, students should be able to recognise the common expressions and terminology used in psychology research and have developed the basic skills necessary to express and discuss the content of research.
In this course, we will focus on identifying and learning how to employ the expressions used in various English articles, academic papers, and presentations. Content from various fields of psychology will be examined. In each lesson, students will have time to learn expressions and technical terms in academic writing and presentations. Every week we will look at a selection of English material and work in small groups (2-3 people) or in class discussions to build up knowledge of essential expressions and practice discussing research. During the course, students will review English language material and work on composing their own short presentations (5-10 mins) on research topics they are interested in.
