The Seminar on English Expression in Psychology 2 (Intermediate-Advanced Level) builds upon the foundational skills developed in the introductory course, focusing on improving the ability to discuss and present psychological research in English. Recognizing the central role of English in global psychological research, this course supports students aiming to enhance their communication skills for academic and professional contexts.
This course emphasizes the development of oral presentation skills in English, particularly for settings such as academic conferences, seminars, and meetings. The structure of the course ensures a step-by-step progression, providing ample opportunities for students to practice and refine their presentation techniques. Activities include analyzing effective presentations, practicing delivery, and engaging in discussions to strengthen the ability to explain and discuss research findings clearly.
By the end of the semester, students will prepare and deliver a well-organized 20-minute presentation on a psychological research topic of their choice. The course also helps students build confidence in participating in academic discussions, improving their ability to express and respond to complex ideas in English.
The goal of the course is to support students in advancing their communication skills, equipping them to engage effectively in academic and professional interactions in English.
1, focusing on enhancing your ability to present and discuss psychological research in English. Throughout the course, you will participate in a variety of activities, including mini-presentations, group discussions, and exploration of diverse research topics, aimed at further developing your presentation and communication skills.
The course takes a step-by-step approach, focusing on practical skill development. Instead of emphasizing a single comprehensive presentation, you will work on different aspects of presenting, such as explaining methodologies, presenting results, and addressing debates. This progression provides a well-rounded skill set and prepares you to confidently communicate research in academic contexts.
Constructive feedback from peers and the instructor will help you refine your clarity, presentation style, and communication effectiveness. Toward the end of the course, you will deliver a 20-minute final presentation on a topic of your choice, using PowerPoint and a prepared script. This final presentation may be based on your thesis or any psychology-related topic that interests you, allowing you to apply the skills you’ve developed in a practical context.
The primary goal of this course is to help you effectively communicate your research in clear and accessible English, making it engaging and easy for your audience to follow. The course is designed to accommodate students with varying levels of English proficiency, focusing on practical skill development rather than language complexity.
