English Expression for Psychology 2 (Intermediate–Advanced Level) builds on the skills developed in the introductory course by focusing on more advanced discussion and presentation of psychological research. This course is designed for students who wish to strengthen their ability to explain complex psychological studies, engage with contemporary debates, and present research-based arguments in English.
Using selected classic and contemporary psychology studies, students develop greater precision in explaining research questions, methods, results, and limitations, as well as responding to questions and feedback in academic discussion. By the end of the course, students are expected to deliver a well-structured 15-minute presentation on a psychology-related topic and to participate confidently in academic discussions.
This course develops advanced skills for presenting and discussing psychological research in English, building on the foundational communication skills acquired in English Expression for Psychology 1. While the introductory course focuses on basic explanation and short presentations, this course places greater emphasis on extended presentations, critical discussion, and responding to questions.
The course uses a small number of selected psychology topics to explore classic studies, contemporary debates, and innovative research methods. Topics include the Stanford Prison Experiment and its critiques, religious priming and replication debates, psychological research on mindfulness, and recent studies using novel methodologies such as artificial intelligence and large-scale digital data. Students work with these topics across multiple sessions, allowing deeper engagement with both content and communication skills.
Through lectures, group discussions, mini-presentations, and structured practice, students refine their ability to explain complex research clearly, organise extended presentations, and engage in academic discussion. The course culminates in a 15-minute final presentation based on a psychology-related research topic.
