The objectives of this course are:
- To develop students understanding of the principles of research design in psychology
- To learn about current debates about research in the psychology field
- To increase students' ability and confidence to discuss psychology and academic topics
- To improve students' ability to use appropriate academic and research vocabulary
- To promote critical thinking about research methods and introduce best practices for research
The course is designed for students at intermediate to advanced levels of English. Students will develop their abilities to use key terminology in psychology and academic research more broadly and to express their opinions on research topics. The course is intended to develop students' understanding of the principles of psychology research & experimental design and to help them critically evaluate existing research.
Each week there will be a research topic explored through lectures, class discussions and in-class exercises. During the course, students will complete short reaction papers on selected topics and produce two presentations (each 10-15 mins) on research topics of their choice.
By the end of the course, students should have improved their understanding of research practices, be aware of current debates in psychology, and be better at discussing their opinions in English.

このコースは、英語の中級から上級レベルの学生を対象として設計されています。学生は心理学の重要な用語や学術研究に広く関連する能力を高め、研究トピックに対する自分の意見を表現する力を養います。このコースは、心理学研究と実験設計の原則を理解し、既存の研究を批判的に評価する力を学生に養成することを意図しています。
毎週、講義、クラスディスカッション、授業内の演習を通じて研究トピックが探究されます。コースの間、学生は選択したトピックに関する短い反応論文を提出し、自分の選んだ研究トピックについて2つのプレゼンテーション(各10〜15分)を行います。
コースの終了時までに、学生は研究実践の理解を向上させ、心理学の現在の議論について認識し、英語で自分の意見を議論する能力を向上させることが期待されています。
