The aim of this course is for students to understand the concepts of medium specificity and post-medium conditions, and to develop a methodology for discussing audiovisual culture through these lenses, while also acquiring skills in reading academic texts.
In this course, students will read texts covering topics such as early cinema, film theory, manga, animated films, digital imagery, and media mix. Before each reading session, students will summarize the content as directed by the instructor. In the latter half of the course, students will conduct research on topics of their own choosing, based on what they have learned, and present their findings in reports and presentations.

文献講読を通じて、「メディウムの固有性」と「ポストメディウム的条件」という考えを中心に学び、「メディウム」という観点から視覚文化について議論する方法を獲得すると同時に、学術的な文章の読み方を身につける。

初期映画、映画理論、漫画、「アニメーション映画」、デジタル映像、「メディアミックス」についての文献を講読する予定。学生は事前に文献を読み、内容を指定された方法でまとめてくる必要がある。各自のまとめをもとにグループもしくは全体で討議を行う。最終的には前半で学んだ内容を踏まえて、学生各自が自身の研究対象について調査を行い、発表、報告をする。
