This course examines the concept of image from philosophical and aesthetic perspectives, and seeks to foster the fundamental competencies essential to the understanding of works of art and the practice of art criticism.
This course explores the concept of image through major texts in modern philosophy and aesthetics. The primary focus will be on the close reading and discussion of theoretical works, but analysis and interpretation of artworks and media representations addressed in those texts will also be undertaken. While the specific readings will be selected flexibly according to students' interests, the thinkers to be considered include Walter Benjamin, Jean-Paul Sartre, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Roland Barthes, Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, Jean Baudrillard, and Georges Didi-Huberman, among others.

「イメージ」という概念を哲学および美学の視点から考察し、芸術作品に対する理解と批評に必要な基礎的な力を養成する。
This course examines the concept of image from philosophical and aesthetic perspectives, and seeks to foster the fundamental competencies essential to the understanding of works of art and the practice of art criticism.
本授業では、現代哲学および美学における主要なテキストを通じて「イメージ」という概念を理論的に探究する。テキストの精読と討論を中心に進めるが、そこで取りあげられる芸術作品やメディア表現の分析、解釈もあわせて行う。取り扱うテキストは受講者の関心に応じて選択するが、予定している思想家にはヴァルター・ベンヤミン、ジャン=ポール・サルトル、モーリス・メルロ=ポンティ、ロラン・バルト、ミシェル・フーコー、ジル・ドゥルーズ、ジャン・ボードリヤール、ジョルジュ・ディディ=ユベルマンなどが含まれる。
