Through close reading of texts, deepen understanding of house music from Black queer, community, and cultural perspectives. The goal is to develop the ability to discuss specific music from social, historical, and cultural viewpoints.
While reading Marguerite L. Harrold's literature, deepen your understanding of the music at the roots of house music—born in Chicago in the 1970s—including blues, jazz, soul, funk, and disco. Simultaneously, learn how house music emerged from the Black queer community. Additionally, examine how house music has been received within Japanese club culture since the 1990s.Audiovisual materials will be used as needed.

Through close reading of texts, deepen understanding of house music from Black queer, community, and cultural perspectives. The goal is to develop the ability to discuss specific music from social, historical, and cultural viewpoints.
Marguerite L. Harroldの文献を読みながら、1970年代にシカゴで産まれたハウスミュージックのルーツにある音楽（ブルース、ジャズ、ソウル、ファンク、ディスコ）の理解を深める。同時に、ブラッククィアのコミュニティからどのようにハウスミュージックが産まれたかについて学ぶ。あわせて、1990年代以降の日本のクラブカルチャーにおいてハウスミュージックがどのように受容されてきたかについて検討する。必要に応じて、視聴覚教材を使用する。
