The aim of this course is for students to learn research and analysis methods from media studies perspective and to read academic writings. The course will enhance students' ability to verbalize their ideas through presentations and writing, as well as to analyze and understand topics from a broad perspective through discussions with other students.
This course welcomes students who wish to research and investigate media in a broad sense. Research can focus not only on audio-visual culture but also on the mediacy of various objects. At the beginning of the course, students will read provided academic texts. Before each reading session, all students will be required to summarize the content of these texts in a specified format. Based on their summaries, students will engage in small-group or class-wide discussions to deepen their understanding of the material. Students are expected to accurately grasp the arguments presented in the texts and to develop their own perspectives. In the latter part of the course, students will present their own research topics. Lectures on research methods will be provided as needed. Through these activities, students will explore and refine their research topics. They will also practice articulating their thoughts both verbally and in writing through presentations, report writing, and peer feedback.

メディア論的に研究、分析する方法、また学術的な文献の読み方を身につける。発表、レポートの執筆を通じて自身の考えを言語化する能力を養い、他の履修者との議論を通して広い視野から物事を理解する姿勢を培う。
The aim of this course is for students to learn research and analysis methods from media studies perspective and to read academic writings. The course will enhance students' ability to verbalize their ideas through presentations and writing, as well as to analyze and understand topics from a broad perspective through discussions with other students.
本演習は、広義のメディア（媒介）に関する研究（制作を伴うものを含む）を受け入れる。視聴覚文化についての研究に限らず、様々な対象の「媒介性」について検討する研究も歓迎する。学期の前半では文献講読を行う。文献講読は毎回全員があらかじめ文献を読み、指定された形式でディスカッションの準備をし、それをもとにグループもしくは全体での討議を行う。履修者は文献の主旨を正確に掴み、理解を深めた上で、自らの考えを発展させていくことが求められる。以後、各回の内容は、主として履修者各々の研究についての発表と議論を中心とする。授業内では適宜資料調査方法など、研究の進め方についても講じる。これらを通じて、履修者は自身の研究テーマを探求し、自らの考えを言語化、文章化する訓練を行う。
