(1) Acquiring basic concepts
We will begin with a group reading of Haruki Murakami's ‘The Profession of the Novelist.’
What kind of experience is required to write prose, and what is the meaning of writing prose?
Through the novel theory of a single author, we will discover our own interests, deepen our understanding of them, and imagine what kind of themes we would like to pursue in our graduation theses or final projects in the future.
(2) Fieldwork
We plan to conduct fieldwork in Futaba Town, Fukushima Prefecture, during the summer vacation.
Futaba Town is located near a nuclear power plant that suffered an accident during the earthquake. The town currently has a population of about 180 and faces various challenges.
We will walk around the town and deepen our understanding of Futaba through our five senses. We will visit disaster sites and archives and conduct fieldwork by talking to people who live in Futaba.
Through this fieldwork, we will attempt to create actual works during the autumn semester.
(3) Form of Expression
The main form of expression will be writing, but this is not strictly limited. I myself am currently working on ethnography and DJing house music.
Depending on your interests, I would like to support you in creating ethnography that includes not only words but also music, photography, and video.

卒業論文、卒業制作のテーマは関心に応じて自由に決めてください。福島のフィールドワークは３年次の共通テーマという位置づけです。
卒業論文や卒業制作で各自の関心にもとづいて作品を制作するにあたり、春学期は「何かを表現するとはどういうことか」について文献講読とフィールドワークに取り組みます。
急いで結論をださなくてもかまいません。自分なりの答えを見つけるために考えるプロセスを重視します。
（１）基本的な考え方を身につける
村上春樹『職業としての小説家』の輪読から始めます。
文章を書くにはどのような経験が求められるのか、あるいは、文章を書くことにはどのような意味があるのか。
ひとりの作家の小説論をとおして、各自の関心に出会い、その出会いを深め、将来的にはどのようなテーマで卒業論文や卒業制作に取り組むかについてイメージする時間になればと思います。
（２）フィールドワーク
夏季休暇中に福島県双葉町のフィールドワークを予定しています。
双葉町は震災に伴い事故が生じた原子力発電所の立地する町です。現在の町の人口は180人ほどで、さまざまな課題を抱えています。
この町を歩き、五感をとおして双葉についての理解を深めます。震災遺構やアーカイブの見学、双葉に暮らす方に実際に話を聞くフィールドワークに取り組みます。
こうしたフィールドワークをとおして、秋学期には実際に作品を作ることを試みます。
（３）表現形態
表現の形態は文章を書くことをメインに想定していますが、基本的には問いません。私自身はエスノグラフィの作成とハウスミュージックのDJに取り組んでいます。
みなさんの関心に応じて、言葉だけではなく、音楽、写真、映像など含めたエスノグラフィの作成をサポートできればと思います。
