Based on the concepts of Yin-Yang, the Five Phases, and the correlation between Heaven and humanity, study the interpretation of disasters and anomalies in the Treatise on the Five Phases (Wuxing zhi) to gain an understanding of the worldview of people in ancient China.
The Treatise on the Five Phases (Wuxing zhi), compiled from sections of Hanshu, interprets disasters and anomalies in connection with the conduct of rulers. The aim is to understand the perceptions on which it is based, referring to modern translations. The class will proceed mainly through reports by the presenter and group discussions involving all participants.

『漢書』から項目が立てられた「五行志」は、災異と為政者の行為を結びつけ解釈するものである。どのような認識をもとにしているのか、現代語訳を参考にしながら理解する。授業はおもに担当者の報告と全員の意見交換によって進めてゆく。
