We will seek miniature universes in ancient Chinese literature, and study what is necessary for the creation and construction of such universes.
We will read ancient Chinese literature about the utopian realm of the Peach Blossom Spring, grotto-heavens, gourds, and dreams, and consider views of the universe, views of the body, and views of life and death.

中国の神話、寓話、小説などの古典文献や出土資料、美術作品の中に、ミニチュアの宇宙をさがす。宇宙の生成と構造に欠かせない要素とは何か、究極の小宇宙とはどのようなものかを考える。
We will seek miniature universes in ancient Chinese literature, and study what is necessary for the creation and construction of such universes.
「桃源郷」「龍宮城」「洞天」「ひょうたん」「夢」などの題材を扱った中国古典文献を読み、これらの性質およびその周辺の思想について学習する。これらはいずれも「壺中天」と呼ばれる中国独特の宇宙観を表す。「壺中天」の思想を通して、おもに唐代の宇宙観・身体観・死生観について考察する。
