This course explores music and dance through the lens of "play." Through literature reviews in the spring semester and student presentations in the fall, the course aims to examine the significance and power of music and dance within human life, society, and culture from diverse perspectives.
The fall semester is dedicated to student presentations and group discussions. Building upon the literature reviews and theoretical frameworks explored during the spring semester, students will research and present on specific music or dance practices of their own interest.
Presentations are expected to go beyond mere information gathering; students are required to review and introduce at least one relevant academic literature and provide thought-provoking questions to enrich the subsequent class discussion. Students are encouraged to use audiovisual materials, and presentations that incorporate live performances or workshop-style activities are highly welcome.

本授業は、音楽やダンスを「遊び」として論じるものである。春学期の文献講読、秋学期の学生発表を通じて、人びとの生活や社会、文化における音楽やダンスの意義やちからについて、多角的に考察することを目指す。

秋学期では、学生発表とそのディスカッションを行う。春学期の文献講読と議論の内容をふまえ、各自が関心のある音楽やダンスの実践について調査し、発表する。発表は単なる調べ学習にとどまらず、関連する学術文献を1点以上読み、紹介したうえで、全体で議論すべき論点を提供するレベルが求められる。映像資料の活用はもちろん、実演やワークショップ形式を含む発表も歓迎する。
