Students think about the relationship between body and perception as knowledge, desires as sentiment. Through this, they study the limits of body and mind in a person, an essential subject in Body Expression and Cinematic Arts, and their possibilities.
Spinoza, a Dutch philosopher of the 17th century, was the first in the history of philosophy to think about body and mind as ontologically equal, but inherently different things. Through this revolutionary way of thinking, students explore ethics of body and mind, essential for Department of Body Expression and Cinematic Arts. Instructors for each class reads the text and explains various themes in an easy to understand manner. The course participants should always have their own understanding and view on the contents. (Each theme in the curriculum might not be discussed at the class in the plan. Instead, this should be seen as a set of examples.)

認識としての知覚と、感情としての欲望、この両者と身体との関係等について考えます。これを通して、映像身体学にとってもっとも本質的な事柄である人間の精神と身体における限界とその可能性とを検討していく。

17世紀のオランダの哲学者、スピノザは、哲学史上、はじめて精神と身体を存在論的に対等に、しかしまったく異なるものとして考えました。この画期的な思考の様式を通して、映像身体学科にとって不可欠となる、身体と精神の倫理学を考えていきます。担当教員がテキストを読みながら、様々なテーマについてわかり易い講義をします。受講者は、その内容についての自分なりの理解や見解等をつねにもつことが重要になります（「授業計画」の各回のテーマは、必ずしもその回に対応するものではありません。それらは、むしろ本授業の諸視点だと考えてください）。
