Through reading literary works by Okinawan and Zainichi Korean authors, students will develop an understanding of the ongoing social, political, and psychological issues caused by colonialism, while cultivating the ability to critically examine (internalized) colonialism.
Post-colonialism literally means "after" (post) colonialism, but it signifies more than just the end of the colonial era. Rather, it represents the critical examination of colonialism that continues to exist in different forms today, and encompasses the thoughts and attitudes aimed at decolonization.
This course begins by reading representative works from Okinawan literature and Zainichi Korean literature while learning various theories and concepts of postcolonial theory. Subsequently, using this knowledge as a foundation, we will deepen our understanding of the Palestine/Israel issue and contemplate the meaning of decolonization.

沖縄および在日朝鮮人の文学作品を読むことを通じて、現在も存続する植民地主義による社会的・政治的・心理的問題を理解し、（内なる）植民地主義を批判的に問う力を身につける。

ポストコロニアリズム（post-colonialism）とは、字義的には植民地主義（colonialism）の後（post）を意味するが、脱植民地主義と訳される。それは、かつての帝国主義の時代が終わったということではなく、現在でも形を変えながら継続する植民地主義を批判的に検証し、脱植民地化に向けて取り組む思想や態度を意味する。
この授業では、まず沖縄文学および在日朝鮮人文学の代表的な作品を読みながら、ポストコロニアル理論のいくつかの思想や概念について学ぶ。その後、その知識を基に、パレスチナ／イスラエル問題の理解を深め、脱植民地化とは何を意味するのかを考える。
