Students observe what is possible and impossible to express in words, thus understanding the language art as it leads the language to the impossible.
Humans have become "selves" by obtaining a language, which they use for social activities. However, it is only natural that not all can be expressed with language. Things you cannot describe with words exist in our world. This is a limit of the language, but at the same time any language alters these so-called limitations and tries to express the inexpressible. It doesn't regard the inexpressible as impossible to express or as something sacred and worshiped, but leads it out of the darkness, trying to bring it into the light. When this happens, the language is not what it used to be anymore, it has developed into something new. Course participants study the work of Georges Bataille, revolving about the problems described above. The works of Bataille delve into the experience of mysticism without God, rapture and experience of unknown. These endeavors are summarized in his series "Summa Atheologica". The class follows this path.

人間は、言語を習得して「私」となり、言語を用いて社会生活を営んでいる。しかし、当然のように、われわれのすべてが言語で成立しているわけではない。言語によっては語りえないとされるものも、われわれの世界には存在している。それは言語の限界であるが、同時に言語はその限界と呼ばれるものを変質させて、語りえないものを語ろうとする。表象不可能なものを表象不可能性として、不可侵の領域として神聖視するのではなく、言語は暗闇を外へと導き、暗闇から出ようとする。そのとき言語は、もはやそれまでの言語ではなくなり、生成変化にさらされるだろう。以上の問題をめぐって、ジョルジュ・バタイユの言語作品について考察する。彼の著作は、神なき神秘体験、恍惚、非-知の体験の探求へと突き進む。その試みは「無神学大全」という連作として結実する。その道のりをたどる。
