Students learn the possibility to think about art regardless of the limits of fine and non-fine arts. Students gather their own clues for studying art after obtaining the knowledge about the theory of art from various thinkers. Also, they stock knowledge about various works of art.
Students cross the limits of fine and non-fine arts, thus learning about art as human activity based on the views of anthropology. This study happens across the framework of the related fields, like art history, cultural anthropology, aesthetics, philosophy and religious studies. This class handles the art anthlopology of Taro Okamoto. It also features the thinkers like Georges Bataille, Walter Benjamin, Wilhelm Worringer, Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, and Georges Didi-Huberman.

美術と非美術の境界をまたぎ超えて芸術を思考する可能性を学ぶ。さまざまな思想家の芸術論に関する知識を獲得して、自分自身で芸術を考察する手がかりを獲得する。また、さまざまな芸術作品についての知識を蓄える。

美術と非美術という境界を横断しながら、芸術という人間的な営みについて、人類学的な知見に基づいて考察する。この試みは、美術史学、文化人類学、美学、哲学、宗教学…といった従来の枠組みを横断しながら行われる。この講義で取り上げるのは、岡本太郎の芸術人類学である。また、それと関連して取り上げる思想家は、ジョルジュ・バタイユ、ヴァルター・ベンヤミン、ウィルヘルム・ヴォリンガー、ジル・ドゥルーズとフェリックス・ガタリ、ジョルジュ・ディディ=ユベルマンなどである。
