In this course, students will gather basic knowledge on the history and theory of documentary film and also deepen their understanding of the characteristics of cinematographic expression throughout various periods of time and regions.
Students will study the methodology for approaching the genre of documentary film. After examining the basic elements that separate fiction and documentaries, the course will subsequently trace the history of documentary film from the birth of film to the present and cultivate students’ abilities to interpret various views of the world.

ドキュメンタリー映画の歴史や理論についての基本的な知識を習得し、様々な時代や地域における映像表現の特色について理解を深めること。
In this course, students will gather basic knowledge on the history and theory of documentary film and also deepen their understanding of the characteristics of cinematographic expression throughout various periods of time and regions.
この講義では、ドキュメンタリーと呼ばれる映画ジャンルにアプローチするための方法を学ぶ。フィクションとドキュメンタリーの境界に関する基礎的な考察を踏まえたうえで、映画の誕生から現代に至るまで、ドキュメンタリー映画の歴史をたどりつつ、様々な「世界の見方」を読み解く力を身につけていく。
