Observing the study of life theory and life phenomena in a broad sense, students will acquire a systems theory perspective.
Systems theory is a theoretical point of view seen in various scientific fields and was developed in the 20th century, concerned with the issue of how to capture life. However, the question of life has long been examined from a system theory point of view. This lecture outlines an old system theory perspective, along with findings on life phenomena, contrasting with the theory of mechanics and elements of reductionism, which oppose systems theory.

Observing the study of life theory and life phenomena in a broad sense, students will acquire a systems theory perspective.
システム論は様々な科学領域で見られる理論的観点で、生命をどう捉えるか、という問題と密接に関わりながら20世紀に発展してきました。ただ、生命に関する問いは古くからあり、そこにもシステム論的な観点を見出すことが出来ます。この授業は、システム論とは反対に位置する機械論、要素還元主義と対比をしながら古くからあるシステム論的な視点や生命現象に関する知見を概説していきます。
