By acquiring the basic concept of phenomenology, students will understand the breadth and depth of the question of the "Other", and develop the ability to construct an argument.
The "other" is not only one of the most important issues in contemporary philosophy, but is also closely related to the "image" and the "body". In this course, we will focus on the French philosophers of the second half of the 20th century, Jean-Paul Sartre, Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Emmanuel Lévinas, and while studying their representative concepts, we will consider the problem of "the other" from various perspectives by examining our concrete experiences using phenomenological methods.

「他者」は、現代哲学の最も重要な問題のひとつであるだけでなく、「映像」や「身体」にも密接に関わっている。しかし、その「他者」とはいったい何か。20世紀後半フランスの哲学者ジャン＝ポール・サルトル、モーリス・メルロ＝ポンティ、エマニュエル・レヴィナスを中心に取り上げ、彼らの代表的な概念を学びながら、現象学的手法を用いて具体的経験についても検証することで、「他者」の問題を多角的に考える。
