This course introduces autopoiesis, a system theory for understanding life and the relationship between living systems and mechanical systems.
What is life? Our understanding of life is being differently questioned today especially by technology and ecology. Explaining these problematics, this course develops the notion of autopoiesis as a perspective from within the living system.

This course introduces autopoiesis, a system theory for understanding life and the relationship between living systems and mechanical systems.
今日、科学技術の発展や生態系の破壊など、さまざまな方向から生命観が問い直されている。この授業は、そうした背景を説明しながら、システム論的な生命論としてのオートポイエーシスの考え方について解説する。
