Based on an integrated and multifaceted understanding of psychology, body, and image, this course considers what the human is fundamentally, by focusing on some specific cases and works. The course treats some historically important films with respect to film history and mentality.
After introducing the significance of considering films with respect to film history and mentality, the course selects one film from each of the four periods around 1950, 1970, 1990, and 2010 and discusses what meaning the film has in the film history as well as what mentality of the period the film reflects.
Per one film, we have three classes. The three classes are organized around the topics on film history, mentality, and the conversation of these two terms, respectively. In each class, the students have group discussions and presentations.

心理・身体・映像の統合的かつ多面的な理解に基づき、具体的な事例や作品に焦点をあてることで、人間とは何かを根本的に問う。歴史的に重要な映画作品を扱いながら、映画史と心性という観点から考える。

イントロダクションとして、映画作品を映画史と心性という観点から考えることの意義を明らかにしたのち、授業は1950年代前後、1970年代前後、1990年代前後、2010年代前後の4つの時代から一本ずつ映画作品を選び、その作品が映画史の中でどのような意味を持っているのかを論じるとともに、その作品がいかなる時代の心性を映し出しているかを検討する。
一本の作品につき、３回の授業をおこなう。３回の授業は、映画史、心性、これらふたつの論点の対話という観点から組織する。各授業で、学生はグループディスカッションと発表もおこなう。
