The goal of disability studies is to "reexamine existing knowledge about disability. In this class, we aim to question students' own "existing knowledge" (how they have viewed disability and people with disabilities) by examining a variety of themes related to disability.
This class will revolve around online lectures. The first five sessions will cover the basic concepts of disability studies. Students will be asked to submit a mid-term report as a summary of this general discussion. This will be followed by a series of eight individual essays on the theme of "disability and ____," and a conclusion. Students are welcome to ask questions via e-mail or other reaction papers as needed. The final report is expected to demonstrate the process of "questioning" based on the students' own experiences and research.

「障害をめぐる既存の知の問い直しをめざすこと」が障害学の目標である。この受業では、障害をめぐるさまざまなテーマの考察を通じて、学生自身の「既存の知」（障害や障害者をどうとらえてきたか）を問い直すことをめざす。

この受業はオンラインによる講義を中心に展開される。最初の５回は障害学の基本的な考え方を学ぶ。この総論のまとめとして中間レポートの提出を求める。その後、「障害と○○」というテーマを８つ設定しての各論が続き、結論に至る。随時、メール等でのリアクションペーパーによる質疑を歓迎する。最終レポートは、学生自身の経験や調査に基づいた「問い直し」の過程を示すものとなることが期待される。
