This course aims to teach students how lifelong learning programs benefit Japanese society.
• Students will be able to research and discuss the history, policy and theory that supports lifelong learning in Japan.
• Students will be able to understand the importance of lifelong learning programs in Japanese society.
• Students will be able to conduct research and write a research report.
• Students will develop their autonomy, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.
This course builds on the theory and content about lifelong learning in Japan that students studied in the first semester. In the fall semester, students will work in groups to apply that theory in a field research project, and further develop their understanding of the important role lifelong learning plays in Japan’s aging society. In addition, students will be required to present their findings and write a research report. Finally, students should end with a paper that will qualify for publication in Manabiai.
