The purpose of this course is to acquire knowledge and education of Geography and Regional Geography as general knowledge, and to learn how to think geographically. Students will also be able to understand maps accurately and have an accurate understanding of the region.
This course will focus on the Regional Geography of Japan. We will first give a lecture on the relationship between Geography and Regional Geography, and how to understand regions. Next, lectures will be given on the territory of Japan, various regional divisions of Japan, the Kanto region and the Tokyo metropolitan area, and Edo / Tokyo.

地理学的・地誌学的な見方・考え方を学ぶとともに、一般常識としての「地理」や「地誌」の知識や教養を身に付けることを目的とする。また、地図を正しく読むことができるようになり、地域のことを正しく理解できるような素養を身に付ける。

この授業は日本の地誌をテーマとする。授業ではまず地理学と地誌学の関係性、地域の見方について講義する。続いて日本の領土・領海、さまざまな日本の地方区分、関東地方と首都圏、江戸・東京の行政区画の変遷、埼玉県の成立に関する講義を行う。
