Based on the definition of social work (International Federation of Social Workers 2014), deeply understand the idea, value, target, scope, methodology, history, etc. of social work. ソーシャルワークの定義（国際ソーシャルワーカー連盟2014）を基に、ソーシャルワークの理念・価値・対象・範囲・方法論・歴史などを深く掘り下げて理解する。さらにソーシャルワークの価値規範と倫理について理解する。これらソーシャルワークの基盤を理解することにより、社会的課題への関心を持ち、今後の進路選択を考えられるようになる。

本講義は、社会福祉士指定科目である。
今後大学においてソーシャルワークを学んでいく基盤となる知識を身に付ける。ソーシャルワークの定義（IFSW2000,2014）を基に、ソーシャルワークの概念・理念・価値・対象・範囲・方法・役割などを掘り下げて学ぶ。さらに、ソーシャルワークの価値規範と倫理について理解する。
また、コミュニティ福祉学部が目指すソーシャルワーク教育やその科目体系について照らし合わせて学ぶことで、学びの目標や方向を自ら考え、2年次以降の領域別の学びや実習教育に結びつけて考えることができるようにする。
