Interpret the structure of modern society from the perspective of gender. Consider the societal backdrop created by having the Male and Female gender, together with a binary system of gender and heterosexuality, as social norms. The purpose of these lectures is to foster these perspectives in our everyday lives and to make us “stop and think” more deeply on these issues.
Our society has created a gender system (social and cultural) based on physical differences in physicality. From an objective standpoint on commonly accepted ways of thinking as they relate to male and female gender distinctions, we will consider how this “common wisdom” has been maintained and reproduced through the use of case studies. Gender is about more than just “Maleness” or “Femaleness”. It includes a framework of the way in which human beings relate to each other. We also consider social institutions that have historically been defined exclusively in a heterosexual context, such as family, love, marriage, partnerships and so on.

パワーポイントを使用した講義形式を中心とし、映像資料や配布資料を適宜活用する。また、理解を深めるためにワークシートを実施する予定である。

現代社会の構造をジェンダーとセクシュアリティの視点で読み解く。
また、性別に基づく差別が生み出される背景を性別二元論、異性愛主義という社会規範から考察する。
性差別を見抜き変革する視点を日常生活のなかで育み、「立ち止まって考える」ことができるようになることが本講義の目標である。

私たちの社会では、身体の違いを根拠としてジェンダー（社会的・文化的性別）による差別が生み出されている。「女性」「男性」という性別をめぐる「常識」に対する客観的な視点と、そのような「常識」がいかにして維持・再生産されてきたのかを具体的な事象取り上げながら考察する。
ジェンダーに基づく差別は、人間関係のあり方にも表れている。恋愛・結婚など、異性間のみの関係が前提とされてきた社会の在り方についても考察し、多様なセクシュアリティについて学びを深める。
