The goal of this course is to develop the necessary and sufficient legal reasoning required of social workers.
Students will systematically understand the fundamental principles underpinning social work—such as human rights, social justice, and human dignity—together with contemporary issues related to rights advocacy, by applying these concepts to a wide range of real-world situations and phenomena.
After acquiring a foundational understanding of key legal disciplines that social workers should be familiar with—such as constitutional law, administrative law, and civil law—students will deepen their concrete understanding of questions such as what rights are and what it means for rights to be violated.

テレビや新聞，インターネット等のニュースに着目して，権利擁護のあり方について意識的に考えてみるようにすること。各回の予習・復習にはそれぞれ2時間程度を要する。

ソーシャルワーカーに求められる必要十分な法的思考を修得することを目標とする。ソーシャルワークの基盤となる人権や社会正義，人間の尊厳などの基本理念と「権利擁護」にかかわる今日的な課題とを，現実に生じているさまざまな事象にあてはめながら体系的に理解できるようになる。

ソーシャルワーカーが知っておくべき，憲法・行政法・民法といった法学の基本的な考え方を修得したうえで，権利とは何か，権利が侵害されるとはどのようなことを意味するのか等についての具体的な理解を深める。
