Understand key concepts, theories, and institutions in housing welfare, and be able to explain them in one’s own words.
Critically examine the realities of housing-related issues and related policy challenges by drawing on academic literature, statistical data, and case studies.
Compare and evaluate housing support policies and practices, and be able to propose evidence-based improvements and approaches to housing support.
In this small seminar, students aim to acquire advanced specialized knowledge by independently formulating a research “question,” either individually or in groups. Through close reading of relevant literature and class discussion, students will organize and critically examine prior research, and will also conduct fieldwork to analyze and interpret collected data. By giving interim presentations and engaging in peer feedback, students will further explore their “question” and ultimately synthesize their findings in an oral presentation or a written report.

少人数で高度な専門的知識の修得をめざし、各自またはグループで自主的に「問い」を設定する。文献資料の精読と議論を通じて先行研究の整理・批判的検討を行うとともに、フィールドワークを実施してデータの分析・解釈を行う。中間報告・相互コメントを重ねながら「問い」を探求し、最終的に口頭発表もしくはレポートとして成果をまとめる。
