Students will gain a deeper understanding of and acquire the basic assistance skills required of mental health and welfare workers through specific learning in a practical setting. Students will learn about the development of consultation assistance using case studies of consultation assistance for people with mental disabilities. Furthermore, students will understand the development of community-based social work and the development of assistance techniques targeted at the community.
Based on an understanding of available social resources and symptoms of mental disorders, students will gain a deeper understanding of the assistance expected of mental health and welfare workers. By using case studies, students will learn and acquire specific counseling assistance developments and techniques.

精神障害をめぐる出来事や事件などに関心を持つため、ニュースの記事などを読んでおくこと。また、自分が住む地域における精神障害者が利用出来る施設や機関などについて、利用条件、利用頻度、利用料金などを調べておくこと。

精神保健福祉士養成課程の指定科目である。
受講生と話し合った上で、授業の持ち方について変更する可能性が在る。
精神保健福祉士に求められる基本的な援助技術について、演習形式により具体的な学ぶことで理解を深め、身に付ける。精神障害者に関する相談援助の事例を用いることにより相談援助の展開について学ぶ。さらに、地域を基盤とするソーシャルワークの展開、および地域を対象とした援助技術の展開を理解する。
