This is an elective required course that is positioned at the core of education in the Department of Community Development. Based on each faculty member's research theme, students will read specialized literature, conduct fieldwork, and practice in the field in small classes.
Thirteen years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake, but the reconstruction of the affected areas and the lives of the victims are still in progress. On the other hand, since then, disasters such as the Noto Peninsula earthquake have occurred frequently in various places, and the risk of a capital earthquake and a Nankai Trough earthquake has been pointed out, while abnormal weather due to global warming is becoming more severe. We can no longer separate "pre-disaster" and "post-disaster", and we must start from the recognition that we are living in an era of "between disasters". Disasters make the vulnerability of local communities clear and bring about various crises, but at the same time, they also demonstrate resilience in local communities and call for emergent efforts by NPOs and volunteers. What can we do to calmly accept reality and speak of hope, without falling into indifference or despair in the face of disaster risks? Based on the above awareness of the issues, this seminar aims to clarify the various aspects of communities in the "between disasters" while taking into account the community sociology perspective and utilizing each student's own interests.
In Advanced Seminar on Community Studies 1B, students will conduct a survey report and additional research, and write a report. In addition, they will review how to write a graduation thesis (practice thesis) for the following year's Advanced Seminar on Community Studies 2A/B, after which they will set their own research theme, create a research plan, and examine previous research. The theme of the graduation thesis (practice thesis) can be an extension of the seminar theme mentioned above, or a completely different theme, and as long as it is empirical sociological research, it can be widely accepted regardless of field or research method.

コミュニティが抱える現在進行形の様々な危機に対して、教員と共同で探求してくれる熱意ある履修者を歓迎します。社会調査士関連科目を並行して履修することを推奨しますが、必須ではありません。
コミュニティ政策学科での教育の中心に位置づけられる選択必修科目である。各教員の研究テーマに即して、少人数クラスで専門文献の講読や現地調査、現場実習などを行う。本クラスの目標は、以下の通りである。
東日本大震災の発生から13年が経過したが、被災地の復興や被災者の生活再建は今なお途上にある。他方でその後も能登半島地震など各地で災害が多発するとともに、首都直下地震や南海トラフ地震の危険性が指摘されつつ、地球温暖化に伴う異常気象が激甚化している。もはや「災前」と「災後」は区切ることができず、私たちは「災間」の時代を生きている、という認識から始めよう。災害は地域社会の脆弱性を鮮明にし、様々な危機をもたらすと同時に、地域社会にレジリエンス（復元力）を発揮させ、NPOやボランティアによる創発的な取り組みも呼び起こす。災害リスクの前で無関心や絶望に陥ることなく、現実を冷静に受け止めて希望を語るために、私たちには何ができるだろうか。このゼミでは以上の問題意識をもとに、地域社会学的な視点を踏まえつつ、履修者が各自の関心を活かしながら、「災間」のコミュニティの諸相を明らかにしていくことを目標とする。

「コミュニティ学演習1B」では調査報告と追加調査を行い、レポートを執筆する。あわせて、翌年度「コミュニティ学演習2A・B」の卒業論文（演習論文）に向けて論文の書き方を確認した上で、各自の研究テーマを設定し、研究計画書の作成や先行研究の検討を行う。なお卒業論文（演習論文）のテーマは、上記の演習テーマの延長でも全く異なるテーマでも可能であり、実証的な社会学的研究であれば領域や調査手法を問わず幅広く対応する。
